Cheryl Zhang

Behaviour Support Practitioner

I am a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner and AASW Accredited Social Worker, with experience across disability, community, and hospital settings. I have worked alongside people with a diverse range of support needs, including autism, intellectual disability, dementia, and complex mental health needs.
My approach is calm, practical, and person-centred. I value spending time with people in their everyday environments, getting to know the person beyond assessments and reports, and understanding what they may be communicating through their behaviour. I particularly enjoy working with people who communicate in different ways or who may need more time and consistency to build trust.
I believe effective behaviour support needs to make sense in real life. I work collaboratively with participants, families, support teams, and other professionals to develop strategies that are respectful, realistic, and genuinely useful in everyday situations.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me enjoying a good cup of coffee, getting lost in a book, or knitting. I always appreciate a good conversation and a bit of humour.
